Thanks to all of you who attended our Town Hall meetings. You will have a further opportunity for input at a Regional Budget Hearing on Monday, March 24, at 3 pm at Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane, Northbrook. Please call my office if you would like to testify about funding priorities and ways to reduce costs. I am hosting with our other House Members from our communities.
Weather permitting, IDOT will perform weekend pavement patching that will require the closure of two out of the three lanes on the Edens Expressway in both directions on March 14 and 15. The patching must be performed in advance of the major lane closures that are scheduled to begin April 4. The work will require the closure of two lanes by 10 pm Friday; one of those lanes will re-open by 9 am Saturday morning. Weather permitting, on April 4, IDOT will begin the second and final phase of the Edens Rehabilitation Project which will involve patching bridge decks and resurfacing all three lanes of the entire length of the 14-mile expressway from Lawrence Ave. to Lake Cook Rd. This work will require the closure of one lane on Edens in each direction from the beginning of April until late summer. Two lanes will periodically be closed during nighttime for resurfacing. The goal of the Edens Rehabilitation Project is to extend the life of the Edens, which was reconstructed in the late 1970's.
